Yellowstone: Details about the canceled Yellowstone Season 6 story have seemingly been revealed

One star surprisingly revealed the role they were going to play in Yellowstone season 6 was dropped, which will likely shake up the Dutton family.

Taste of Country recently conducted an interview with country musician Cory Asbury, who previously revealed that he was considered for a role in season 6 before Yellowstone season 5 part 2 was announced.

is the end of the program. Pressed on this issue, he revealed that the role he is taking on is that of “Kayce’s long-lost brother”.

He said he was prepared to move to Montana to play the role and that he was “very sad when it was canceled.” Read his full quote below:

”I was so excited about it and so sad when it was cancelled. Too disappointed. I was supposed to be Kayce’s long-lost brother.

We plan to move to Montana within a year. We were ready… [my wife] Anna agreed with me and our kids said, “Okay, great, we’ll live in Montana.”

'Yellowstone' Season 5 Finale: Ending Explained

Could Kayce’s long-lost brother return to the Yellowstone universe?

Considering the time commitment required of Asbury, it seems likely that Kayce’s long-lost brother will be an important figure with great influence on Yellowstone’s Dutton family. While other shows cast musicians for one-off cameos, this show and its spin-offs have made a habit of giving them major roles. In fact, Luke Grimes is a musician himself. The 1883 prequel also gave the lead role to country music legend Tim McGraw.

Given the importance of his character, it’s possible that Asbury could still make it into the Yellowstone cast in some way, shape, or form. While the flagship show is coming to an end, there are still many prequels and spin-offs still on the schedule, in addition to the prequels that aired in 1883 and 1923. These upcoming shows include the sequels of Yellowstone starring Matthew McConaughey and taking place in 2024, which is the timeline in which season 6 will probably take place regardless.

Even with Kevin Costner still on the show, Yellowstone season 5 part 2 was delayed due to a shutdown amid a writers and actors strike in 2023.

Ultimately, it seems the only obstacle to Asbury playing a significant role in Yellowstone is his stardom and his family’s willingness to commit to a relocation. Since they agreed to this idea once, it seemed like they would do it again. If not, the character of Kayce’s brother could still shake up the movie’s dynamic, perhaps played by another actor.
