Yellowstone: Eyes Spring Production Start On Final Episodes, ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’ Gears Up

The final installment of Yellowstone will begin filming in late spring, 2024. This is a logical start of production target given the fact that the popular series from Taylor Sheridan shoots largely outdoors in Montana and would need to wait for the winter to be over.

To accommodate a spring return to production on the second half of Season 5, Paramount Network recently slated it for a November 2024 premiere. There is no target production start date yet for 2024, the contemporary Yellowstone spinoff series whose debut is set to follow the conclusion of the mothership series.

While anything is possible, for now there are no plans for Yellowstone star Kevin Costner to return for the series’ final chapter, we hear. As Deadline reported exclusively, his exit was triggered by a dispute over the extent of his availability in Season 5.

The Yellowstone franchise and the entire Taylor Sheridan slate is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios.

Of all of Sheridan’s shows, Mayor of Kingstown starring Jeremy Renner is expected to go into production first in early 2024. Half of the scripts for Season 2 were written before the strike, and the writers room jumped back in to complete the rest upon the end of the WGA strike.

Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and vicious business rivalries.

The series, whose reruns are currently airing to CBS to solid ratings, is co-created by Taylor Sheridan & John Linson. Executive producers include John Linson, Art Linson, Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay and Christina Voros.
